[NES+VRC6] Phylactery

By Mortistar on August 12, 2018 11:57 pm

Week 32 has turned out to be a very special week for me. I started writing a fakebit tune in FL after being incredibly inspired by the genius known as Virt (the Shovel Knight soundtrack is really something else compositionally!) After potting about writing everything to the NES+VRC6 standard (NES + sawtooth + 2 Pulse waves) it felt like something was missing. And it was then that I decided to pick up 0CC Famitracker for the first time and transition the whole tune into it! With this, it took me the entire week to compose (and most of it ended up being composed in Fami itself instead of FL) and I can finally show off my FIRST ever famitracker tune. Please tell me what you think, I hope you enjoy it! And as always, I'll see you lot next week big_smile

(4ntler, this is for you heart)

I've already told you, but this melody is great! Awesome track!

It definitely feels a lot like Virt, and yet it doesn't quite feel entirely like him. Maybe the arps don't have quite enough flourish to them? Tempo too low? Drum variation?

Awesome tune! Famitracker is really fun to play with wink

Great compo!! Good job on taking the plunge and doing it in Famitracker, I'd like to take the plunge eventually and hearing your track is very inspiring! Rock solid melody and arrangement work!

You've reached critical mass and gone nuclear!

Whoaaow, this is really good stuff Mortistar!

Really happy you tried out Famitracker. I've got no experience with it whatsoever, but this sounds super dope! Stellar first track I'd say big_smile Keep on keeping on heart

Finally got around to listening to this properly, and god damn is this composition good heart I like to think I know a strong melody when I hear one, and this one is strong as hell all the way through heart Great structure, great variation on top, this is honestly fantastic my dude. TOP work heart

Yeah there's a lot of things I learnt from this, maybe I'll touch it up in future. I didn't quite expect to get to his quality on my first track lmao wink
